Product Overview

Drop-In Anchor sourcing essentials

A drop-in anchor is a flush-set, internally-threaded concrete anchor. After drilling, the anchor body is dropped into the hole and the internal expander plug is driven down with a setting tool, expanding the anchor against the hole walls. The bolt or threaded rod is then inserted into the threaded body. Allows machine-removable bolts (unlike wedge anchors).

Buyer Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the advantage of a drop-in over a wedge anchor?

A drop-in anchor sits flush with the concrete surface and the bolt or threaded rod can be removed and reinstalled at will, without affecting the anchor. This makes drop-ins ideal for permanent installations where the threaded fitting may need to be serviced — for example, suspended cable trays.

Why does a drop-in anchor need a setting tool?

The internal expander plug must be driven a specific distance — too little and the anchor isn't fully expanded; too much and the threads can be damaged. The setting tool stops at the correct depth. Each anchor diameter has a matching setting tool.
