Toggle Bolt

Toggle Bolt — Hollow Wall Heavy Suspension

A toggle bolt has a spring-loaded wing (toggle) that folds flat to pass through a hole, then springs open behind the wall. As the bolt is tightened, the toggle pulls against the back of the wall, creating high pull-out resistance in hollow constructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a standard toggle and a snap-toggle?

Standard toggle: the spring wing must be threaded onto the bolt before insertion, and falls into the cavity if the bolt is removed. Snap-toggle: a plastic strap holds the metal channel against the back of the wall — the bolt can be removed and reinstalled without dropping the toggle into the cavity. Snap-toggles are generally easier to install in finished walls but slightly more expensive.
