Countersunk Socket Screw

Countersunk socket screws use a 90-degree flat head that seats flush with the surrounding surface. The internal hex drive provides clean installation in machine slides, fixtures, panels, and assemblies where a protruding bolt head would interfere with movement or appearance.

Buyer Questions

Frequently asked questions

How should the countersink be prepared?

Machine a matching 90-degree countersink to the head diameter and height specified by DIN 7991 or ISO 10642. The screw should finish flush without bottoming at the tip of the countersink. Confirm the standard because nominal head dimensions can differ.

Why is the standard property class commonly 10.9 instead of 12.9?

A countersunk head has less material around the drive and a different load path than a cylindrical DIN 912 head. ISO 10642 commonly specifies Class 10.9 to balance strength with the geometric limitations of the flat head.
