Cap Nut / Acorn Nut (DIN 1587 / DIN 917)
Cap nuts (also called acorn nuts or dome nuts) have a closed, domed top that conceals the bolt thread end. They serve both a decorative purpose and a protective function — sealing the bolt from contamination and protecting hands from a sharp thread end.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the bolt protrude through a cap nut?
No — the cap nut has a closed dome. The bolt length must be selected so the thread does not bottom out inside the nut. If the bolt is too long, it will hit the inside of the dome before the nut is fully tightened.
