Nylon Insert Lock Nut

Nylon insert lock nuts have a polyamide ring at one end. As the nut is threaded onto the bolt, the bolt deforms the nylon, generating friction that resists loosening from vibration. DIN 985 is the standard (lower height) version; DIN 982 is the taller version.

Buyer Questions

Frequently asked questions

How many times can a nylon lock nut be reused?

Industry guidance suggests 5-10 cycles before the prevailing torque drops below specification. For critical safety applications (lifting equipment, transport), use a new lock nut on each installation.

Can nylon insert lock nuts be used at high temperature?

Standard nylon (PA66) has a continuous service temperature of around 120 °C. Above this, the nylon softens and locking action is lost. For higher temperatures, use all-metal lock nuts (DIN 980), wedge-lock washers, or thread-locking adhesive.
