How tight should I drive a roofing screw?
Just enough to compress the EPDM washer until it slightly bulges out from under the head — typically the washer should be visible just at the edge. Over-driving distorts the panel and can crack the washer; under-driving leaves the seal incomplete.
How long do RAL-painted roofing screws last?
Painted Ruspert-coated roofing screws are typically warranted for 10-15 years against significant color fade and corrosion. In coastal or industrial environments, life will be shorter — bi-metal stainless screws are recommended for 25+ year service in those conditions.
