Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a threaded rod and a stud bolt?
A threaded rod (DIN 975) is long bar stock threaded along its entire length, typically sold in 1m, 2m, or 3m lengths and cut to size on site. A stud bolt (DIN 976 or ASTM A193) is a shorter piece, often threaded on both ends with a plain middle section, designed for a specific flange or connection. Stud bolts are usually supplied with matching nuts.
What is ASTM A193 B7 and where is it used?
ASTM A193 B7 is a specification for heat-treated alloy steel stud bolts, commonly made from AISI 4140 / 42CrMo material. B7 studs are the industry standard for high-temperature and high-pressure bolting, especially on flanged connections in oil and gas, petrochemical, and power generation equipment. They are typically paired with ASTM A194 2H heavy hex nuts.
Can you cut threaded rods to custom lengths?
Yes. Most Yongnian factories can cut rods to any length from a few centimeters up to 3 meters. For very small lot custom cuts, a small cutting fee may apply. For bulk orders with a single custom length, the cost is usually absorbed into the unit price.
